Each May, historic Main Street in Old Wethersfield transforms into a vibrant showcase of creativity with Bicycles Along Main! Throughout the month, over 70 uniquely decorated bicycles, designed by families, businesses, and community members, will line the street, bringing color, artistry, and fun to the heart of our town. Bicycles are on display May 1st through May 31st.

In 2026, Bicycles Along Main will partner with America250 CT, encouraging participants to design displays inspired by Connecticut’s four America250 themes:

• Tell Inclusive Stories – sharing histories that may have gone untold
• Power of Place – highlighting what makes our community unique
• Doing History – actively engaging in historical exploration and learning
• For the Common Good – strengthening civic engagement and democracy

These themes invite creativity, storytelling, and community pride—and we can’t wait to see how they are brought to life. Special prizes and awards will be given in connection with these themes—more details to come!

After admiring all of the bicycles, you’ll be ready to dine in our wonderful restaurants, shop in our unique stores, visit our museums and historical sites, enjoy sweet treats, and indulge in the many services our businesses offer. Old Wethersfield is truly a historical, vibrant, and magical place.

Additionally, we encourage you to take a ride along along the Heritage Way Bike Path experience the beauty of our town on two wheels, discover why Wethersfield earned the national designation of “Bicycle Friendly community”.

This free event is a celebration of community spirit, where imagination meets creativity. Take a stroll, explore the bicycle displays, and enjoy a ride on the Heritage Way Bike Path.
