Introducing Tuesday's Treasure, where we'll share interesting and unique items from the Museum's collection. What's more refreshing on a hot summer day than a glass of delicious chilled fruit punch? This lovely Chinese Export Punchbowl (late 18th-early 19th century) was owned by the Coffin-Bond family of Nantucket. Today, in the Deane House parlor, it helps recreate the June 29, 1775 dinner served to George Washington, who had stopped at Deane’s home enroute to Boston where he would take command of colonial forces besieging British troops in the city. (Gift of Marcella R. Putnam / 1964)
